Description: Recent black
silt deposited in Newark Bay, South Elizabeth Channel, Port
Jersey, and Arthur Kill is not suitable for ocean dumping.
The dredging and placement of the black silt is 3 times more
costly than suitable sediments. Earthworks maps the footprint
of black silt with sonar and maps the thickness with sub-bottom
profiling.
